Hillsboro girls win easily against Cair Paravel

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DR
A game against Cair Paravel-Latin was just what the doctor ordered for an ailing Hillsboro girls’ team. The Trojans ended a three-game losing streak with an easy 58-32 win over the Lions in Round 2 of pool play in the Trojan Classic girls’ tournament on Thursday evening.

Playing with renewed energy on defense, the Trojans raced to a 19-7 lead after one quarter. By halftime the outcome was all but settled at 34-9.

Hillsboro’s intensity dropped a notch or two in the second half, but they still outscored the Lions 18-15 in the third quarter and 8-6 in a deep-substitution fourth quarter.

JuliAnne Chisholm scored 16 points and Tina Frick 13 for Hillsboro, which improved to 5-6 for the season. Barring a major upset by Cair Paravel over Riley County on Friday evening, Hillsboro will play for third place at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday against Wamego.
