Four Bluejays named to NAIAfootball.net All-American team

Post-season honors continue to roll in for members of the sixth-ranked Tabor College football team on the heels of an 11-1 season that took them to the second round of the NAIA Football Championship Series.

NAIAfootball.net last week named four Bluejays as All-Americans for the 2005 season.

Earning first-team honors were senior running back Roger Butler, and senior linebacker Jake Schenk.

Earning third-team accolades was senior defensive lineman Justin Mathias while junior offensive lineman Grant Myers received honorable mention.

Butler led the nation in scoring this past season while tying an NAIA record with 32 rushing touchdowns.

He amasses 1,828 yards, an average of 152.3 yards per game.

Against Southwestern College, Butler rushed the ball 40 times for 255 yards and scored five touchdowns, earning him the NAIA offensive player-of-the-week honors.

Schenk made 109 tackles this season, including 69 solo stops and 40 assists.

He recorded 19.5 tackles for losses, had 6.5 quarterback sacks resulting in 39 negative yards and forced two fumbles.
