Handke earns doctoral degree at University of Neb., Omaha

Luke Handke, formerly of Hillsboro, received a doctor of philosophy degree Dec. 16 at the graduation ceremonies of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha.

His doctorate is in the field of pathology/microbiology, with an emphasis in genetics.

A graduate of Hillsboro High School and Kansas State University, Handke is pursuing post-doctoral studies at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Mass.

He is the son of Connee Willis of Hillsboro.
