Area charities receive Toy Run proceeds to supply gifts for kids

Sponsors of this fall’s annual Toy Run presented checks and bicycles Saturday morning at Hillsboro State Bank to representatives from charitable organizations in four Marion County communities. Pictured here are (front row) Susan Robson and daughter Bailey, representing Marion Community Christmas ($4,590 and 12 bicycles), which includes the Marion and Centre school districts, and Lee Becker of Sons of the American Legion; second row, Curtis Wiens, representing the Hillsboro Area Ministerial Alliance ($2,754 and seven bicycles), John O. Dalke, representing SAL, Mark Wiens, representing the Goessel Ministerial Alliance ($918 and two bicycles) and Ron Funk of SAL; back row, Jim Pohlman and Rodger Charles of the Peabody Association of Churches ($1,938 and five bicycles), Kim Abrahams of the Route 56 Classic Car Club and Mike Sechler from SAL and ABATE District 9. This year’s event, sponsored by Route 56 Classic Car Club, SAL and ABATE, raised $10,200, bringing the event’s 12-year total to $51,000.
