Kansas Rep. Jerry Moran reads the remarks he recently made to the U.S. House of Representatives about the efforts of Ramona citizens to revitalize their small town. Moran was in Ramona Saturday to present his “Building Better Communities” award to the 100 citizens living there. Accepting the award on behalf of the town were Jessica Gilbert (far left) and Pat Wick (third from left), the “California Sisters” who have led efforts to generate economic activity in the northern Marion County town. Pictured between them is their mother, Martha Ehrhardt. To the right is vice-mayor Jeannie Weber.
