ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Carol McFadden of 209 S. Date, Hillsboro, recently completed six intricate gingerbread houses for the holiday season (top photo). Each house comes with a frosting-covered roof, Christmas characters and furnishings, decorative lights and fences made of chocoloate candies. Not all parts of the project are edible. The gingerbread walls, for example, “would break your teeth,” she said with a laugh. McFadden began her project about three weeks ago, but she said she has no idea how many hours she invested in it. She plans to keep one of the houses for herself, but said she’ll be giving the others to family and friends.
