Goin’ to Goessel for Grandparents Day

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Students in Barb Goering’s first-grade class at Goessel Elementary School hosted their grandparents Thursday morning for a few hours of food and fun during GES’s Grandparents Days last week. Each class invited its grandparents to come for a visit during a different day thoughout the week. Of Goering’s 16 students, 11 had at least one grandparent come for the visit, while the rest adopted one of the attending grandparents for the day. At left, Joshua Schmidt (left) shares grandpa Alfred Schmidt with classmate John Bartlett as the three pal around after the noon meal while Paul Meysing looks on. At bottom left, Rhett Makovec shows a book to grandmas Ina Mae Nason (left) and Jane Makovec as they wait in the library before lunch. Below, Jennifer Meysing exchanges a glance with grandma Alice Meysing as they and the rest of her class gobble down a Thanksgiving dinner, complete with paper-turkey place settings, in their classroom.
