Coming this weekend: TV debate on casinos in Kansas

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DR
Are casinos good economic development, or bad social policy? Those are the questions for this week’s edition of On The Record, airing statewide on Kansas public television.

Scheduled to appear are Glenn Thompson, executive director of the anti-gambling group, Stand Up for Kansas, and Shelley Hansel, former Wichita television reporter and now execuvitve director of the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Produced by KPTS/Wichita, the program airs at 8 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday on KPTS.

Sumner County, like Marion County, has scheduled a casino referendum, and will conduct its vote next month. Stand Up For Kansas has been a vocal opponent of the referendums.

KPTS Public Affairs Editor Dale Goter conducts the interview.
