MC United soccer visits K.C.

Local youth soccer players participated in a “Play Like the Pros” event in Kansas City on Saturday.

The was event sponsored by the Kansas City Wizard soccer team. Local players played a game on the indoor practice field that the Wizards share with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Participants enjoyed the interaction during a wet but successful tailgate dinner before traveling to Arrowhead Stadium, where they were welcomed by the Wizards with a tradition knows as the “Human Tunnel.”

Participants then retreated to the stands and cheered for the Wizards, who lost 1-0 to the Chicago Fire.

MC United’s Maura Wiebe was recognized as “Got Milk Soccer Mom of the Game” and was awarded a gift basket by the Wizards’ mascot as Wiebe donned a milk mustache for the Omnitron scoreboard and all of Arrowhead Stadium.

MC United players who made the trip included Ashley Couts, Madison Klein, Dakota Klein, Elli Weisbeck, Franklin Jost, Sonja Jost, Justin Tate, Joshua Brown, Jacob Funk, Hannah Funk, Jake Wiebe, Erin Wiebe, Jessica Allen, Melissa Hiebert, J. Michael Hiebert, Zane Blackmon, Kai Magathan, Zach Magathan, Tyler Burst, Josh Richert, Joe Fisher, Harry Faber, Kiara Espada, Luke Lanning, Kalen Moss, Samantha Moss and Tucker Moss.
