Rziha, Aita wed July 31
Janie Patricia Rziha of Tampa and Emilio Giuseppe Aita of St. Louis, Mo., were married July 31 in a nuptial mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Tampa.
Father Meinrad Miller of Atchison officiated, assisted by Father Mark Wesley of Herington.
Parents of the couple are Gerald and Jeanne Rziha of Tampa and Anthony and Mary Aita of St. Louis.
Grandmothers of the bride are Bonnie Haslouer, Abilene, and Gertrude Rziha of Great Bend. Grandmother of the groom is Laura Lampe of St. Louis.
The bride chose a white A-lined v-neck satin wedding dress with beading on the bodice. Her three-tiered veil was held in place by a rhinestone tiara. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses made for her by her aunt, Nancy Rziha.
Maid of honor was Cecilia Rziha, sister of the bride.
Bridal attendants were Diane Herron and Julie Rziha, sisters of the bride, Mary and Laura Aita, sisters of the groom, and Anne Stephens, friend of the bride.
They wore ankle-length, two-piece satin light turquoise dresses and carried a single yellow rose.
Best man was Brian Montgomery, friend of the groom.
Groomsmen were George Aita, brother of the groom, David Rziha, brother of the bride, Doug Peterson, cousin of the groom, and Tony Palmasano, friend of the groom.
Flower girl was Cecilia Marie Rziha, niece of the bride. Ring bearers were Andrew and Peter Herron, nephews of the bride.
Michael and Christopher Rziha, nephews of the bride, rolled out the white carpet for the bride to walk down the aisle.
Ushers were Wayne Rziha and John Rziha, brothers of the bride, and Dominic Clifton and Shaun Brennan, friends of the groom.
Trisha Fangman, friend of the bride, handed out programs.
Altar servers were Nick Parker, Simeon Willis and Adam Wilczak, friends of the couple.
Lectors were Malory Mahon, cousin of the groom, and Maria Gear and Gordon Schroeder, friends of the couple.
Gift bearers were Mitch and Janelle Mahon, Sam Russo, and Francis and Mary Jirak.
Individuals from the Benedictine College Choir at Atchison provided the music.
Susie Rziha, sister of the bride, was the psalmist.
Seven fourth-degree Knights of Columbus members from Atchison provided an honor guard with red plume hats, suits and swords.
After the ceremony, guests threw rose petals as the couple and wedding party gathered on a hay wagon with a decorated church pew for a ride to the city hall. Dan Misener drove the antique tractor.
Hosts for the reception were Ron and Mary Hammerschmidt, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Glenda Peterson and Georgene Modlin, aunts of the groom.
Catharine Schoenecker, Jennifer Whitehair, Jessica Fayette and Leslie Cannon, friends of the bride, cut the cake, baked and decorated by Mary Jirak.
After a buffet meal in the city hall, the guests and bridal party participated in a street dance. Hot dogs were served at 10 p.m. by Ron and Rose Jirak and Albert and Teresa Jirak.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Benedictine College and will be teaching at Bishop LaBlanc High school in St. Joseph, Mo.
The groom is coaching football at Benedictine College and is finishing his degree.
Following a honeymoon trip to Porta Varta, Mexico, the couple resides in Atchison.
