The 17th ranked Tabor College Bluejays rolled over the Bethel College Threshers Saturday night at Reimer Field in Hillsboro, 60-10.

Roger Butler scored Tabor’s first three touchdowns on runs of 9, 2 and 2 yards on his way to 122 yards rushing in the contest.

Quarterback Ricky Ishida, operating behind his massive offensive line with the touch of a skilled surgeon, completed 15 of 16 passes in the game for 210 yards and three touchdowns.

Tabor rolled to a 47-10 halftime lead amassing 348 yards of total offense in the opening 30 minutes.

By the time the final horn sounded, Tabor owned a 50 point win over the same Bethel squad it took two overtimes to defeat at Newton last season.

The Bluejays wound up with 488 yards of total offense- 282 passing and 206 rushing- on the way to scoring over 60 points or more for the second week in a row.

Jake Schenk led a swarming Bluejay defense that allowed just 256 yards of total offense to Bethel College, with 11 tackles while Robert Haude added 10 tackles and Andy Bartell contributed 8 tackles and a 34 yard interception return for a touchdown.

Bethel’s only touchdown came on a fluke play as Peter Garibaldi picked up a Barron fumble and carried it the final 23 yards for a touchdown.

With the victory, Tabor moves to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference while the Threshers fall to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the KCAC.

Next up for the 17th ranked Bluejays will be the Bethany College Swedes who handed Tabor its only KCAC loss last year. Game time will be 1:30 Saturday afternoon in Hillsboro.
