Thiessen takes Hillsboro title

Anthony Thiessen was crowned Club Champion and Russ Cain was the runner-up in the Hillsboro Men’s Club Championship at the Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course Aug. 27-28.

The handicap flight title went to Cain; the handicap first flight was won by John Shofe; the handicap second flight was won by Mike Unruh; and handicap third flight was won by Scott Sader.

On Saturday, Thiessen was closet to pin No. 6 and Cain was closest on No. 9; Ronn Coates sank the longest putt on hole No. 1 and Doug Dick accomplished a similar feat on No. 4; and Richard Nickel hit the straightest drive on No. 8.

On Sunday, Sader was closest to the pin on No. 9 and No. 6; Lawrence Ressler made the longest putt on No. 1 and Mike Ryan on No. 4; and Gene Atwood hit the straightest drive on No. 8.
