Tabor College baseball coach John Sparks has signed a Madera, Calif., student-athlete for the upcoming season.

As a high school senior, Eric LiCalsi hit .255 with four home runs, 16 runs batted in, had eight stolen bases and finished with a .500 slugging percentage.

The 5-foot, 10-inch, 185-pound catcher/outfielder received the Madera Baseball Coaches Award in recognition of his efforts.

LiCalsi also excelled in the classroom and served as co-valedictorian of his senior class.

“Eric is a hard worker who has some offensive pop at the plate.” Sparks said. “We are pleased to receive a baseball player and a person with so many good qualities.

“He is an individual who will be an asset to the Tabor community.”
