LEGAL NOTICE – Request for Bids

REQUEST FOR BIDS
Notice is hereby given that Marion County, Kansas is soliciting bids for construction of Bituminous Overlay (2005). The project consists of 20.63 miles of Bituminous overlay (2″) (BM-2) on 290th Road, Old Mill Road and Pawnee Road as an Alternate #1 Marion County shall provide all of the funds required for the projects. All regulations must be complied with. Scaled proposals for the proposed construction will be received by Marion County until 10:45 am, local time, September 1, 2005 in the Commissioners’ Room of the Marion County courthouse at Marion, Kansas at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bidders are encouraged to be present at the bid opening, but if the bid must be mailed it should be addressed to the following:

All Bidders are to be prequalified with the Kansas Department of Transportation, as outlined in Section 102 of the KDOT Standard Specifications.
All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond or a Certified or Cashiers check in the amount of 5% of the total bid. Checks or bonds are to be made pay-able to Marion County and serve as a guarantee of the sincerity and integrity of tile bidder, and shall be forfeited to the County if said proposal or bid is accepted and the bidder fails to execute the contract and file the required statutory and performance bonds as required in this contract documents.
All mailed bids must be received prior to the stated bid opening tune. The envelope should be clearly marked as to it’s contents. The bid proposal consists of the following:

Work will commence no later than October 3, 2005 (late start date). All work shall be completed within 25 working days after Notice to Proceed. Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents may be examined at the County Road Supervisor’s Office in the Marion County Courthouse, and at the Engineer’s Office at the following address:

Marion County reserves the right to waive any and all technicalities and to reject any and all bids
