Dirksens celebrate 50th anniversary
Kermit and Frances Schmidt Dirksen of Marion County Lake celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family brunch July 10 at Yia Yia’s Euro Bistro in Wichita.
Following the brunch, the family gathered at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in rural Goessel, where the couple were married July 10, 1955.
The family spent the rest of the day celebrating at the Dirksen home, where they listened to the recorded wedding ceremony and saw their granddaughters model Frances’s wedding dress.
Hosts for the day were the Dirksens’ children and grandchildren: Greg and Karen Dirksen of rural Hillsboro; Ron, Patsy, Brittany and Sierra Dirksen of Goessel; and Jeff, Linda and Iris Shelley of Lenexa.
