Sharing good times at Chingawassa Days

Kodi Kelsey enjoys a joke with Mitch Carlson, both of Marion, after Kelsey completed her part in the Chingawassa Days annual bed races on Saturday morning in Marion. Kelsey was a member of the Western Associates team, which adopted a time-for-bed theme. This year’s festival adapted to rain and threats of rain for another successful year, according to Michael Powers, chairman of the planning committee. Some events, like the Friday night program and the Saturday night concert by Little Texas and Restless Heart, were moved indoors, but the Central Park activities during the day Saturday continued as planned. “All in all, the committee was really very, very gratified with how the thing came off,” Powers said. “My feeling is that it’s an indication of how people in general, but particularly maybe small towns, can pull together when the going gets tough.”
