EDITORIAL: Summer alertness alert

With schools dismissed for the summer, former students are now geared for fun, maybe a summer job, and for sure a lot of getting around from one thing to the next in the great outdoors. While summer is generally seen as a season to be laid back and relaxed, it’s actually the time of a year for drivers to be more alert and on guard as we traverse the streets of our neighborhoods and communities.

These kind of warnings are often dismissed as soon as they’re taken in, but it’s always worth at least moment to think about the safety and well-being of children. Be on the alert and slow down, especially in areas where children congregate to play.

Make it a safe summer. -DR
