NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

IN CONNECTION WITH THE ISSUANCE OF HEALTH CARE FACILITIES REVENUE REFUNDING AND IMPROVEMENT BONDS BY THE CITY OF HILLSBORO, KANSAS



Public notice is hereby given that the governing body of the City of Hillsboro, Kansas (the “City”) will conduct a public hearing in connection with the proposed issuance, in one or more series, of not to exceed $6,105,000 principal amount of its health care facilities refunding and improvement revenue bonds (the “2005 Bonds”) under the authority of K.S.A. 12-1740 et seq. Such hearing will be held on June 7, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible, at City Hall, 118 East Grand, Hillsboro, Kansas 67063. Said health care facilities refunding and improvement revenue bonds are proposed to be issued by the City for the purpose of providing funds to (i) refund and redeem the City’s outstanding Health Care Facility Refunding and Improvement Revenue Bonds, Series A, 1994 (Parkside Homes, Inc.), dated as of January 1, 1994, in the original principal amount of $1,455,000 (the “1994 Bonds”), which 1994 Bonds were issued for the purpose of providing funds to pay the costs of purchasing, acquiring, installing and equipping certain additions to an existing nursing home facility (the “1994 Facility”), and Health Care Facilities Revenue Bonds, Series 1995 (Parkside Homes, Inc.), dated June 1, 1995, in the original principal amount of $2,000,000 (the “1995 Bonds”), which 1995 Bonds were issued for the purpose of providing funds to pay the costs of purchasing, acquiring, installing and equipping certain congregate senior housing facilities (the “1995 Facility”), and (ii) acquisition, construction and equipping of certain additions to the 1994 Facility and 1995 Facility (the “2005 Additions”) (the 1994 Facility, the 1995 Facility and the 2005 Additions collectively referred to as the “Project”). Said Project is located at 200 Willow Road, Hillsboro, Kansas 67063 and will be leased to Parkside Homes, Inc., a Kansas not-for-profit corporation.



A copy of this notice is on file in the office of the City Clerk and is available for public inspection during normal business hours. In the event that said 2005 Bonds are not ultimately issued, the City shall not be deemed to have assumed or incurred any liability or obligation to Parkside Homes, Inc. or any other party by virtue of any proceedings or actions taken in connection therewith.



The governing body of the City will not take any action approving the issuance of the 2005 Bonds until said public hearing has been concluded. All persons having an interest in this matter will be given an opportunity to be heard at the time and place specified.
