The Hillsboro and Marion golf teams will each be sending one player to the Class 3A state tournament following the regional tournament Monday in Cheney.
The two schools ended the day with identical team scores-357, which left them in a tie for fifth place in the nine-team field and out of the running for a team berth.
Marion’s Travis Hett finished seventh in medalist play with a 70 and Hillsboro’s Andrew Bina just made the cut for state by finishing 10th with an 83.
Also competing for Marion were Nick Carlson (88), Keith Jones (96), John Whitwell (93), Jake Bredemeier (99) and Chase Carlson (99).
Also competing for Hillsboro were Patrick Harrison (86), Justin Kent (90), Derek Hamm (98), Lance Bartel (103) and Jordan Allen (112).
Hesston won the regional title with a team score of 317. Top medalist was D. Kemmer of Wichita Independent with a 66.
The Class 3A state tournament will be Monday at Hays.
