In their own words…

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Here’s what Hillsboro HIgh School seniors had to say about Jim Robb, the teacher they say influenced them the most:

* * *

He makes learning fun and interesting. I love his stories.

* * *

He was very wise and always helped us and knew all the answers.

* * *

He goes out of his way to help everyone succeed.

* * *

He’s a very smart teacher who believes in a person and actually wants the kids to learn something. He works hard and keeps giving students second chances.

* * *

He knows everything and is concerned with students learning the material. He’s a good role model and he’s fair.

* * *

He made learning government and history enjoyable when those subjects could be very boring. He is always positive and has a great sense of humor and great stories about his childhood.

* * *

He knows everything. He’s funny, easy-going, is someone to look up to. He’s one of the best teachers I know and can make you want to learn.

* * *

Mr. Robb always keeps your attention. He has an enormous knowledge not only of history and government, but also pretty much anything else. He challenges us to think past what we can obviously see, and to start analyzing the concepts and events we are studying. He has influenced me a lot and helped me to do my best always.

* * *

He’s the type of guy you want to be like. He inspired me to read more, so I can be more knowedgeable.

* * *

There wasn’t one particular incident that made Mr. Robb come to my mind. Mr. Robb is just one of the coolest teachers. He tells funny stories and does good imitations. As a student, I always have looked up to him. Mr. Robb is a really sensitive guy, too. You can always tell when something is important to him and those are the best stories of them all.

* * *

Mr. Robb was the most influential in my high school years. I’ve had him in the 11th and 12th grades. You can tell Mr. Robb really loves to teach. Unlike some teachers, who do it just because it’s their job, you can tell he enjoys teaching kids. Plus, he is good at keeping the attention of his students, and he really knows his stuff. Also, he never gives up on kids and wants them to continue to succeed.

* * *

Mr. Robb taught us a lot and made learning a lot of fun. He would always do voices or sing songs while he was telling us stories of the Battle of Gettysburg and others. He treated us like like adults and always had us share current events and had us talk about what was going on in our lives. I always look forward to that because every day is different.

* * *

Mr. Robb made class time fun and interesting. He never needed to use the book because he already knew everything. He was always telling us real stories to relate to the historical things that we were talking about and that made me pay attention. You could also ask him questions and he knew the answer, even if it wasn’t about history or government.

* * *

He not only told us what happened in history, he showed what happened. It made history much more vivid.

* * *

Mr. Robb made learning fun and added humor to the lesson. He helps you when you need it.

* * *

He has knowledge into everything. He’s like a Chinese prophet, wise.

* * *

Mr. Robb tells good stories, uses a John Wayne accent, and knows his curriculum.

* * *

Mr. Robb showed compassion for more than just teaching, also for us students and others, like at assemblies and other school meetings.

* * *

Mr. Robb knows his stuff.

* * *

How he teaches makes boring subjests interesting.

* * *

He helped me understand the history of America better.

* * *

Mr. Robb relates the lessons to our lives and helps us get a really good understanding of what we learn. He’s also just a really nice guy.

* * *

He makes history and government enjoyable. He is the smartest person I know, and he really knows how to relate to students. He’s by far the best teacher I’ve ever had! He’s a big influence on me and my perspectives of what’s going on in the the world, our country and its history.

* * *

Mr. Robb knows a lot of things, is nice and is interested in me.
