Wedel, Sandbo marry in McPherson
Laura Lynn Wedel and Matthew John Sandbo were united in marriage Oct. 16 in an afternoon wedding at St. Joseph Church in McPherson, with Father Paul Oborny officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Linda Wedel of Canton. She is the granddaughter of Lorraine Havlik and the late Frank Havlik of Marion and Irby Wedel and the late Lucille Wedel of Canton.
The groom is the son of Gary and Suzanne Sandbo of Lindsborg. He is the grandson of Dorothy Cain and the late Jim Cain, Bernice and Mervis Mose and Julius Sandbo, all of Tracy, Minn.
The bride wore a strapless gown of ivory satin, featuring an asymmetrical waist and corset back and embellished with bands of beads at the top of the dress and down the side of the skirt.
The bride’s sisters, Koren Wedel and Emily Allen, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Amber Cooley and Elizabeth Tate.
Nick Sandbo, brother of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Sandbo, brother of the groom, Nicholas Wedel, brother of the bride, and Jerry Barta, friend of the groom.
Ushers were Allen Johnson, Brandon Nelson, Barry Magnusen and Brad Malm, all friends of the groom.
Flowergirl was Kassidy Griffin and ringbearer was Zac Sangles, both cousins of the bride.
Following the ceremony was a lunch and dance reception at the McPherson Country Club.
The bride graduated from Kansas State University with a master’s degree in communication science and disorders. She is employed with Southwest Area Cooperative of Dodge City and Meade School as a speech pathologist.
The groom graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and is employed as a teacher and coach at Southwestern High School in Plains.
The couple resides in Meade.
