Susie Decker Klatt, 80

Susie Decker Klatt, 80, retired employee of Hesston Corp., died Feb. 26 at Shiloh Manor Nursing Home in Canton.

The service is at 2 p.m. today, March 2, at Canton Christian Church, with pastors Jack Smith and Harrell Guard presiding. Interment will follow at Canton Township Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 5, 1925, to Frank A. and Lena Unruh Rudiger in rural Galva. In 1943 she was married to Robert Decker, who predeceased her in 1991. In 1992 she was married to Raymond Klatt, who survives.

She is also survived by one son, Dwight Decker of Canton; two daughters, Julie Hoyer of Canton and Nadine Spence of McPherson; one stepson, Bill Klatt of McPherson; two stepdaughters, Kristi Morgan of Moundridge and Cheryl Ayer of Wichita; one brother, Galen Rudiger of Newton; three sisters, Pauline Smith and Irene Bartel, both of Newton, and Doris Decker of Galva; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Canton Christian Church, Canton Senior Center and Central Homecare & Hospice.

Ben Haury, 19

Ben Haury, 19, Hesston College student, died Feb. 21 in Topeka.

Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 25 at Southern Hills Mennonite Church, Topeka. Graveside services were Saturday morning at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, followed by afternoon memorial services at Southern Hills Mennonite Church, Topeka.

He was born May 19, 1985, to David and Rose Wiebe Haury in Newton. He attended McClure Elementary, French Middle School and graduated from Topeka West High School, where he participated in band, tennis and Scholar’s Bowl. He was a sophomore at Hesston College studying computer science and biology.

He is survived by his parents, David and Rose Haury of Harrisburg, Pa.; his sister, Emily Haury of Goshen, Ind.; his grandmothers, Ada Mae Haury of Newton and Rubena Wiebe of Hillsboro; his aunts and uncles, Margaret Wiebe of Hesston, Hank and Lynn Wiebe of Hillsboro, Rachel and Mike Easter of Hesston, Kathy and Duane Loewen of Newton, John and Carolyn Haury of Dearborn, Mich., and Kakim and Karla Kunantaev of Hillsboro; and 15 cousins.

Norman Koop, 69

Norman Koop, 69, retired owner of Amoco Service Station and an RV company employee, died Feb. 24 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Private inurnment services were at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.

He was born March 10, 1935, to Henry and Anna Reddig Koop in Hillsboro. He was married for more than 30 years to Patricia Ertle, who predeceased him in July 2004.

He is survived by one daughter, Traci Kruetzer of Denver; a son, Michael Koop of Chicago; and one grandchild.

Wilbur Selzer, 87

Wilbur Selzer, 87, farmer, died Feb. 26 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

The service is at 10 a.m. today, March 2, at Spring Valley Mennonite Church in Canton, with Pastor Bruce Anthony officiating. The casket bearers will be his nine grandchildren: Lisa Hollinger, Dwight and Johl Mohler, and Erica, Kendra, Larissa, Nathan, Patrick and Tyler Selzer. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Mennonite Church cemetery.

He was born July 4, 1917, to Edward and Lorena Neuschwanger Selzer in McPherson. In 1944 he married Lizzie Mae Yoder who predeceased him.

He is survived by six sons, John Selzer of Canton, Harold Selzer of McPherson, Steven Selzer of Canton, Ben Selzer of Hesston, Myron Selzer of Canton and Eldon Selzer of Landisville, Pa.; one daughter, Marilyn Mohler of Kirkwood, Pa.; one brother, Merle Selzer of Hillsboro; two sisters, Elsie Miller and Alice Selzer both of Hesston; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Mennonite Disaster Service.
