For the second time in as many nights, a conference champion Tabor College basketball team was defeated at home in quarterfinal action in the KCAC post season tournament.
This time it was the 9th ranked Tabor women that lost to the Bethany Swedes 54-47 as Tabor committed 25 turnovers and gave up 21 offensive rebounds.
Bethany led 26-24 at halftime and pushed the lead to five points later in the second half before a 10-0 Tabor run gave the Bluejays a 45-40 advantage with just 5:12 remaining.
But 9th seeded Bethany, who dropped in the standing because of an ineligible player and the forfeit of 11 games, rallied and held the Bluejays to just two points the remainder of the contest.
Donya Anderson led the Bluejays with 12 points and 11 rebounds as Tabor lost for the first time since December 2 at Southwestern.
Tabor held the Swedes to just 28.6 percent shooting from the field but it wasn’t enough.
With the loss that breaks Tabor’s 19 game winning streak and hands the Bluejays their first home court loss of the season, Tabor falls to 24-5.
Tabor now awaits the seedings and its’ opponet for the NAIA Division II tournament in Sioux City, Iowa on March 9-15.
