The Marion Warrior wrestling squad split a pair of matches at a double-dual in Halstead on Thursday. The Warriors defeating Chase County 43-33 while falling to Halstead 42-30.
Against Chase County, Chelsea Arnhold (112 pounds) defeated Ross Eidman 15-5, Hank Collett (125) defeated Aaron Weld 7-2, John Barr (135) pinned Nathan Phipps at the 1:18 mark, Ben Leppke (140) pinned Andrew Sisson at 3:06, Casey Nelson (152) pinned Dusty Martin at 2:58, and Adam Depler (189) pinned Kyle Smith at 2:49.
Winning by forfeit were Riley Ross (119) and Charlie Holub (130).
Chris Freeby (171) lost to Lee Heinth, 11-3.
“This was probably our biggest dual win of the year,” Marion coach Chad Adkins said. “Our kids wrestled great.
“Chelsea Arnhold, Casey Nelson and Adam Depler have been our go-to guys.”
Facing Halstead, Marion got wins from Arnhold, who defeated David Romeseim in a fall at 2:24, Holub in a fall at 0:31 and Nelson with a fall at 3:28. Winning by forfeit were Collett and Depler.
Barr lost to Luke Thibault by fall at 5:40, Leppke lost to Echko Bayar by fall at 2:42 and Freeby lost by fall to Dustin Foster at 1:59.
“We wrestled pretty good tonight,” Adkins said. “We’re down to eight wrestlers due to injuries.”
Coming-The Warriors are scheduled to compete in a double-dual at Chase County on Thursday, then will do battle at the Southeast of Saline Invitational on Saturday.
Matches begin at 5:30 p.m. at Chase County and at 10 a.m. at Southeast.
