Candidate slate determined for local elections

With the Jan. 25 filing dealing now past, the candidates for city and school positions has been determined.

Responses varied from city to city.

In Lehigh and Lost Springs, for instance, no one in either community filed for the openings for mayor and five city council positions.

In Ramona, meanwhile, two people filed for mayor and nine people filed for the five openings on the city council.

In Hillsboro, the incumbents for mayor and city council filed for reelection and will not have opposition on the ballot.

Delores Dalke has filed for her seventh term as mayor-her fifth consecutive-while Len Coryea will be seeking his fourth term as a West Ward representative and Matt Hiebert will be seeking his third term as an East Ward representative.

The Unified School District 410 Board of Education, meanwhile, will likely have one new member.

Incumbents Brent Barkman and Eddie Webber have filed for another term at positions 4 and 6, respectively. But incumbent Doug Weinbrenner will not be seeking another term at Position 5. Gary Andrews has filed to succeed him.
