Hillsboro girls breeze past Cair Paravel

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN DR
Three minutes into Thursday’s game between the Hillsboro girls and the girls from Cair Paravel-Latin of Topeka, the outcome was clear.

Cair Paravel simply didn’t have the basketball resources to compete against Hillsboro and the Trojans glided through to a 46-12 victory in the second game of pool play at the Trojan Classic.

Hillsboro led 10-0 after one quarter and 21-2 at the half. It was one of those games where the opponent doesn’t challenge you to play up to your ability and the Trojans themselves looked ragged at times — but never threatened.

Coach Becky Carlson substituted early and often throughout the contest. Hannah Marsh scored 15 points for Hillsboro and JuliAnne Chisholm added 12.

The win more than likely moves Hillsboro into the third-place game on Saturday, although at this writing several games were still to be played before Saturday.

The win bumps Hillsboro’s record to 5-5 for the year.
