Bluejay women defeat Newman 69-57

The Tabor College women hosted Newman University on a slick Monday evening in Hillsboro and defeated the Jets 69-57.



Tabor jumped out to a quick 29-8 lead just 12 minutes into the game before settling for a 40-25 lead at the intermission.



Newman (1-12) responed in the second half cutting the Tabor lead to just six points at 51-45 with 9:25 to play but the Bluejays held on for their 12th win of the season against just four losses.



Tabor was led in scoring by Stacie Herman with 15, followed by Donya Anderson with 12 and Kelly Pavlik added 11.



The Bluejays hit 24-of-50 field goal attempts (48 percent) compared to Newman who connected on 19-of-69 tries (27.9 percent).



Newman made 27 trips to the free throw line but sank just 14 (51.9 percent) while Tabor was good on 16-of-22 attempts (72.7 percent).



Newman won the rebounding battle 47 to 37.

Katie Fast led Tabor with nine rebounds.
