HHS team soars to 3rd at High Q

A team representing Hillsboro High School took third place in the Class 3A school competition at the 2004-05 High Q academic competition Dec. 4 at Washburn University.

More than 90 schools participated from throughout Kansas.

The contest, co-sponsored by WIBW TV-13 and Washburn University, allows teams of high school students from across Kansas to compete against each other in answering questions on topics such as art, literature, history, math and science.

Teams earning the top 16 scores advanced to the finals and return to Topeka several times for taping sessions.

The televised High Q competition will air on WIBW TV-13 from late January to early May 2005 and will be rebroadcast on KTWU Channel 11.

Representing Hillsboro High were: Robert Jost, junior, son of Lynn and Donna Jost; Kelsey Kaufman, senior, daughter of Kenton and Nancy Kaufman; Victor Rogers, junior, son of Mark and Nancy Rogers; Greta Kliewer, junior, daughter of Duane and Ruth Kliewer, Hillsboro;

The coach is Nancy Thomas.
