50th anniversary

Karl and Velma (Krehbiel) Funk will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family during the Thanksgiving weekend holiday.

The couple were married Nov. 27, 1954, at Bethany Mennonite Church in Kingman.

After they were married, they spent one year in Denver, while Karl completed alternate service as a conscientious objector.

They moved to the family farm in rural Hillsboro, where Karl farmed and operated a welding/repair shop. Velma worked for dentists Henry and Loren Loewen as a receptionist until retirement.

Their children are Kurt and Ruth Funk, Carla and Dick Hein, Dennis and Lori Funk, Merlin and Penni Funk, all of Hillsboro; and Marlene and John Hagen of Inman. They have 13 grandchildren.

Cards may be sent to the couple at 611 S. Main, Hillsboro, KS 67063.
