Tabor women and men claim wins at Warrior Classic

The Tabor men and women’s teams got off to winning starts at the Warrior Classic in Sterling on Friday night, defeating their respective counterparts from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.



The women from trailed by two points at halftime, but outscored the Rangers by 20 in the second half to claim an 80-62 victory. Erica Hemmert scored 22 to pace the Bluejays. Also in double figures were Stacie Herman with 16, Katie Fast with 11 and Donya Anderson with 10.



The men, meanwhile, avenged a loss to the Rangers last week with a 79-74 win in overtime. This game was close from start to finish. Tabor led down the stretch but went flat in the last two minutes to allow NOSU to tie the game at 64 at the end of regulation.



Martin De Boer led the Bluejays with 23 points. Grant Brubacher and Brad Gattis each added 12 to give Tabor its first win of the season against two losses.
