A Ramona resident was critically injured in a single-vehicle accident seven miles south of that community Friday morning.
At press time, Terri D. Thompson was in serious condition at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Thompson, 33, of 501 N. B St., was driving a 1993 Geo Metro southbound on Quail Creek when her car began to skid in loose gravel and entered a ditch on the east side of the road, striking a utility pole at 290th and Quail Creek.
Deputy Rollin Schmidt with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department was first on the scene. Officer Howard Kahler of the Marion Police Department also was on the scene.
Thompson was air lifted by medical helicopter to Wesley Medical Center.
She is a firefighter and is employed as a certified nurse aide in Hillsboro.
A benefit hunter’s breakfast and lunch is planned beginning at 6 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Cheers II building in Ramona.
A trust fund has been established with First National Bank of Hope; fund buckets have been placed at various businesses in Hillsboro; and canned goods for the family will be accepted at a drop-off site at Parkside Homes.
