The Tabor Bluejay volleyball team traveled to Winfield Thursday night and came home with a five-game loss to the Moundbuilders by scores of 26-30, 30-19, 30-23, 21-30 and 13-15.
The loss snapped a 15 match winning streak by the Bluejays and also dropped them into a tie with Ottawa for the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title as both schools finish with a 15-3 conference record.
“This was a hard loss for us,” Tabor head coach Amy Ratzlaff said. “We just weren’t ourselves tonight.”
With the loss, Tabor will be seeded second in the KCAC post-season tournament which begins next Tuesday night, Nov. 9.
Tabor will receive a first round bye and host the winner of the Bethel College (3)/ Kansas Wesleyan (6) match on Thursday night.
Had Tabor defeated Southwestern, the Bluejays would have maintained home court advantage throughout the playoffs. As it is, the championship will be held on the floor of the highest remaining seed on Saturday night, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
Tabor concluded its regular season with that 15-3 KCAC record and a record of 19-11 overall.
The winner of the post-season tournament will travel to Dordt, Iowa for regional competition on Nov. 18-20.
