Two arrested in marijuana raid Friday

Following an investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s office, a marijuana-sales operation in Hillsboro was shut down Oct. 29, and two people were arrested.

Christian Steele Petersen, 207 N. Lincoln, was arrested on possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of marijuana. Other charges were pending at press time.

A 17-year-old female was also arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to investigators, a third suspect will also be charged in connection with the sales operation.

In an investigation led by Sgt. Jeff Soyez, a search warrant was obtained for a residence at 207 N. Lincoln. The warrant was executed at about 11 p.m., Friday, by the sheriff’s office and the Hillsboro Police Department.

During the search, a large quantity of marijuana packaged for sales was seized.

Other officers present on the scene were Sheriff Lee Becker, Undersheriff Randy Brazil, Deputy Josh Whitwell, Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning, Assistant Chief Jessey Hiebert and Officer Brad Richards.
