Don Alan Franz, 40

Don Alan Franz, 40, Dillard’s buyer, died Oct. 17 in Dallas.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, at Trinity Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with pastor Bruce Porter officiating.

He was born July 13, 1954, to Ray and Aldina (Flaming) Franz in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his parents of Hillsboro; two brothers, Larry Franz and wife Sue of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dale Franz and wife Melanie of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials have been established with Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Building Fund and Marion County Hospice.

Ray W. Johnston, 60

Ray W. Johnston, 60, formerly employed at Butter Krust, Pepsi Cola and Stormont-Vail Hospital, died Oct. 18, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

The funeral was Oct. 21 at Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka. Burial was at Penwell Gabel’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.

He was born Dec. 16, 1943, to Noel John and Inez May (Spencer) Johnston in Topeka. On Sept. 27, 1974, he was married to Delores M. Ollenburger, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Eddie Johnston and Tony Johnston, both of Topeka, and Mike Johnston of Merriam; two daughters, Kimberly Sumpter of Topeka and Mary Cooper of McKinney, Texas; four brothers, Robert Johnston and Richard Johnston Sr., both of Topeka, Jim Johnston of Hurst, Texas, and John Johnston of Wichita; one sister, Freda Dinwiddie of Topeka; special friend Ron Bergquist of Topeka; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Hope Lutheran Church, 2636 S.E. Minnesota Ave., Topeka, KS 66605; and Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.

Hubert Piland Jr., 66

Hubert Piland Jr., 66, United States Army staff sergeant, died Oct. 20 in Hillsboro.

The memorial services and burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 29, at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody with pastor Rodger Charles of Peabody Baptist Church officiating.

He was born May 16, 1938, to Hubert and Elizabeth (Courson) Piland Sr. in Denver. On May 5, 1959, he was married to Carol Bloomer, who survives.

He is also survived by his mother of Newton; two sons, Daniel Piland of LaSalle, Ill., and Hubert Piland III of Lehigh; three brothers, James Piland of Newton and John Piland and Mike Piland, both of Lyndon; one sister, Grace Guca of Griffin, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Elnora Craig Price, 92

Elnora Maude (Krebs) Craig Price, 92, homemaker and retired teacher, died Oct. 21 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Special Care Unit.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel with Don Ratzlaff officiating. Burial will be at French Creek Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

She was born April 27, 1912, to George Albert and Ina Myrtle (Ingman) Krebs in Newark, Ohio. On July 6, 1937, she was married to William Edward “Ed” Craig Jr., who died in 1958. On Aug. 3, 1968, she was married to Charles David Price, who survives.

She is also survived by one son, William “Bill” Edward Craig, III and wife Gretchen of Columbia, Md.; one daughter, Cynthia Lee (Craig) Martens and husband Mark of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ivan L. Weibert, 77

Ivan LeRoy Weibert, 77, farmer and rancher, died Oct. 20 in Wichita.

The funeral was Oct. 23 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with pastor R. Laney Kuhn officiating. Burial was at Durham Park Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 15, 1927, to Pete and Molly (Raugh) Weibert Sr. in Durham. On Aug. 28, 1946, he was married to Irene Schwendimon.

He is survived by one daughter, Bev Riffel and husband Loney of Hope; three brothers, Dave Weibert of Hillsboro, Pete Weibert Jr. of McPherson and Edwin Weibert of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
