Centre volleyball team sees season end in regional play

The Centre Cougars concluded their season last week with a loss in the semifinals of the Class 1A regional at Centre.

The Cougars, the No. 3 seed, defeated sixth-seeded Burlingame, 25-19, 15-16, in the opening round.

Centre was successful on 45 of 48 service attempts with Jackie Klenda scoring three service aces.

Brianne Stahlecker was 26-for-27 on set attempts, leading to seven kills, while Alyssa Luna was 7-for-8. Klenda converted 15 of 16 attacks with six kills while Alisha Barney was 15-for-17 with five kills.

In the second match, Centre lost to second seeded White City (20-5), 17-25, 12-25.

Centre connected on 26 of 30 service attempts. Stahlecker was 16-for-16 on sets, leading to two kills, while Luna was 10-for-10 with two kills.

Megan Gutsch converted five of eight attacks for one kill and led the team with four blocks.

Klenda was six of eight on attacks while leading the team with four kills.

Centre concluded its season with a record of 15-12.
