Tabor College continued its perfect season Saturday with a 24-14 win over the Ottawa Braves in Ottawa.
Ottawa took an early 7-0 lead on Tabor on a 45 yard pass play but Tabor answered near the end of the first quarter when Roger Butler scored from three yards out.
Marcus Manny added a 32 yard field goal to begin the second quarter and give Tabor a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Tabor added a Ricky Ishida touchdown blast of one yard with just 11 seconds remaining in the first half to grab a 17-7 halftime lead.
Tabor special teams scooped up a Brave fumble early in the second half and the Bluejay offense converted it into another TC touchdown as Ted Telemaque score on a six yard run with 11:48 to play in the third quarter.
Ottawa managed to whittle into the Bluejay lead near the end of the third quarter on a one yard run to cut the lead to 24-14, but a scoreless fourth quarter left Tabor with a 10 point win.
Ishida complete 18 of 41 passes for 209 yards with Mike Beach the favorite target as the junior caught seven passes for 96 yards.
Telemaque had 19 carries and 66 yards while Butler had 59 yards on 21 carries as Tabor rolled up 25 first downs to just 12 for Ottawa.
The Tabor win coupled with Saint Mary’s upset overtime win over previously unbeaten Bethel College leaves Tabor alone atop the KCAC standings.
Tabor returns home next Saturday to host pre-season conference favorite McPherson who lost at Southwestern Saturday.
Game time is set for 1:30.
