The Tabor Bluejays improved to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play Saturday with an easy 9-0 win over Bethel College.

In the first half, Kandi Holland blitzed the Threshers for four goals and Michelle Rink added another as Tabor led 5-0 at halftime.

Even with the dominating score, Lincoln Wulf, head of soccer operations at Tabor, said Bethel caused Tabor problems.

“They really controlled the midfield play and gave our defense some problems,” he said. “I told the ladies at halftime we had all the goals we needed to beat this team, so we needed to work on our passing, communication and supporting runs.”

Wulf said the second half was much better.

“We passed the ball better, we communicated and we scored another four goals.”

Second half goals were scored by Holland-her fifth of the day- Porsche Davis, Sarah Lopez and Stephanie Stuber.

Sterling–The Bluejays lost on the road to Sterling last Thursday, 3-0. No further game information was made available.

Manhattan Christian–Tabor defeated Manhattan Christian College last Tuesday, 7-2, in Manhattan.

Leading the offense once again was Michelle Rink, who scored four goals and added two assists. Kandi Holland added three goals while adding three assists.

Other assists came from Stephanie Stuber and Sarah Lopez.

“The first half we came out really sluggish and were fortunate to get to the second half with a 2-1 lead,” coach B.J. Livingston said. “MCC’s first goal was actually put in by one of our own players.”

Livingston said things came together in the second half.

“We played our best soccer of the season,” he said. “Everybody moved the ball and it was the first game of the season that we actually won more 50/50 balls than our opponent.”

Livingston said the game produced numerous stars.

“Michelle and Kandi continue to be dominant offensive players and impress me with their skills,” he said. “Cady Stuever turned in another solid defensive performance.”

Also shining was goal keeper Kari Shorb, who faced six shots and saved four.

Coming–Tabor travels to Winfield today (Wednesday) to battle Southwestern College. Game time is 5 p.m.
