Mikosa Munguya and Lance Redetzke were married Dec. 27 at Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson with pastor Arnot Munguya officiating the double-ring ceremony. Also officiating was Mary K. Humber, representing pastor Stephen Humber of Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church.

The bride is the daughter of Arnot and Georgina Munguya of Hillsboro. The groom is the son of Russell and Linda Redetzke of Barnum, Minn.

Maid of honor was Kelly Shorb of McPherson, friend of the bride. Best man was Nick Paulson of Duluth, Minn., friend of the groom.

Bridesmaids were Mindy Munguya of Hillsboro, sister of the bride, and Alea Redetzke of Barnum, sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Muthoni McPherson of Wichita. Flower girl was Njerry McPherson of Wichita.

Groomsmen were Keith Shobert of Hillsboro, friend of the bride and groom, and David Hurst of Barnum, friend of the groom. Ring bearer was Jake Steinmetz of Buckeye, Ariz., cousin of the groom.

Ushers were Tim Steinmetz of Buckeye, uncle of the groom; Womba Munguya of Olathe, brother of the bride; Derek Karber of Valley Center, friend of the groom; and Larry Norhook of Duluth, friend of the groom.

Candlelighters were Jennifer Walker and Melanie Sullivan, both friends of the bride.

Gift carriers were Tiffany and Tawny Steinmetz, cousins of the groom.

Musicians were Richard Calam of Hillsboro, friend of the bride’s family, and Mindy Munguya.

The church was decorated in an out-door Christmas theme by Jane King, friend of the bride.

The bride wore a pearl two-piece gown featuring a strapless bodice with a scalloped waistline detailed with floral embroidery and scattered seed pearls and rocals. The box-pleated skirt flowed into a chapel train and was enhanced with matching floral embroidery.

The bride carried a bouquet of hydrangeas.

A reception at the church followed the ceremony, and a dance was held in the evening at the McPherson American Legion.

Reception hosts were Annie and Kohzi Makai of Houston, cousins of the bride, and Shawn and Dorothy McPherson of Wichita, both friends of the bride.

Reception assistants were Lisa Donahue and Becky Elam, both friends of the bride.

Munguya, Redetzke celebrate marriage



The bride graduated from Hillsboro High School in 2002 and attends the College of St. Scholastic in Duluth.

The groom graduated from Tabor College in 2003 and is employed with Combined Insurance of America in Duluth.

The rehearsal dinner was held Dec. 26 at Countryside Covenant Church.

Following a honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Duluth.
