Deadlines pending for HRC tennis programs

The signup deadline is approaching for three summer tennis programs being offered by the Hillsboro Recreation Commission.

May 15 has been designated as the cutoff date for the following events:

n High school tennis camp, June 14-18. Boys and girls who have completed eighth through 11th grade are eligible. Sessions run from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hillsboro Sports Complex.

n Junior tennis camp, June 14-18. Boys and girls who have completed fourth through seventh grade are eligible. Sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Hillsboro Sports Complex.

n Munchkin tennis, June 14-18. Boys and girls who have completed kindergarten through third grade are eligible. Sessions run from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Hillsboro Sports Complex.

HRC is also offering a new program called “Adult Tennis Night” at 8 p.m. on Sundays during June and July at the Tabor College tennis courts. Participation is free.

Finally, the Hillsboro Family Festival Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 29. Participants can choose between a one-mile fun run and a 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) race. The cost will be $14 for the 5-k race, and $5 for the one-mile; participants in the 5-k will receive a T-shirt.
