Trojans fall in state semifinals to Minneapolis

Minneapolis jumped to a 9-0 lead to the start the game and never let Hillsboro out of that hole as the Lions posted an impressive 68-36 win over the Trojans in Friday’s semifinal matchup in the Class 3A state tournament.

By the end of the first quarter, Hillsboro trailed 19-8 and by halftime the deficit was 13 at 38-25

Minneapolis put the game away in the third quarter by building a 58-40 lead..

Hillsboro simply was a half-step behind the Lions all night long as the Minneapolis guards pentrated the lane successfully time and time again. For the game, the Lions shot 58 percent shooting percent fromthe floor.

Hillsboro, meanwhile, shot a chilly 36 percent, and showed little rhythm or patience on offense.

The loss drops the Trojans (21-4) into the third-place game against Riley County at 2 p.m. Saturday.
