Gladys Coleman, 78

Gladys Coleman, 78, retired registered nurse with St. Francis Hospital of Wichita, died Dec. 25.

The funeral was Dec. 30 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church of Wichita.

She was born June 3, 1925, in rural Hillsboro. On Sept. 12, 1948, she was married to Virgil Coleman, who predeceased her.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl VanDusen and Joanne Houser and husband Mark, all of Wichita, Gloria Kuhlman of San Jose, Calif., and Charles Coleman of Orem, Utah; daughter-in-law Carolyn Coleman of Baltimore, Md.; brothers-in-law Paul Williams and Ben Ewert; sisters-in-law Mabel Plett, Teresa Plett and Viola Plett; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

Ryon Sturgeon, 29

Ryon Keith Sturgeon, 29, died Dec. 24 in Dighton.

The funeral was Dec. 28 at United Methodist Church of Dighton with pastor David Randall officiating. Burial was at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

He was born May 24, 1974, to Renita and Michael Sturgeon.

He is survived by his parents, Michael Sturgeon and wife Debbie of Hillsboro and Renita Braddock and husband Dan of Syracuse; and one sister, Michelle Thomas of Hays.

Tammie Goerzen, 43

Tammie Goerzen, 43, office coordinator for the medical office of Charles Craig in Newton, died Dec. 27 at Newton Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Tabor Mennonite Church of rural Goessel with pastor Corey Miller officiating.

She was born April 12, 1960, to Carl and Elizabeth (Claassen) McKim in Newton. On May 5, 1984, she was married to Michael Goerzen, who survives.

She is also survived by her mother of Burrton; two sons, Brett Goerzen and Shane Goerzen, both of Goessel; one daughter, Tara Goerzen of Goessel; and one brother, Tod McKim of New York, N.Y.

A memorial has been established as the Goerzen Children Educational Fund at The Citizens State Bank in Goessel.

Benard Stromberg, 91

Benard Mayos Stromberg, 91, dairyman, died Dec. 29 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, at Florence Christian Church with pastors Harold Brown and Marilyn Cox officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.

He was born Aug. 31, 1912, to Carl and Elizabeth “Bess” Stromberg in rural Florence. On Nov. 18, 1967, he was married to Helen (Peterson) Sellers, who predeceased him on Dec. 9.

He is survived by one step-son, Robert Sellers of Florence; one step-daughter, Margaret Harris of Marion; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Florence Christian Church.

Eskil Unruh, 80

Eskil Unruh, 80, farmer, died Dec. 25 at Bethesda Home in Goessel.

The memorial service was Dec. 30 at Tabor Mennonite Church of rural Goessel with pastors Walter Friesen and Karen Andres officiating.

He was born March 21, 1923, to Jacob S. and Sara (Friesen) Unruh in Goessel.

He is survived by one brother, Robert E. Unruh of Hutchinson and one sister, Charlene Stoetzel of Newton.

Memorials have been established with Bethesda Home and Tabor Mennonite Church.
