The Tabor Bluejays fell behind Newman University by 17 points in the first half, but staged a second half rally that brought them to within one of the Jets, but Tabor was unable to clear the final hurdle and fell 66-61.

Tabor led the Jets 9-8 early on, but the Jets bombed Tabor with a 20-2 surge to lead by 17 points.

Tabor methodically inched closer, and had the gap narrowed to just nine points by intermission.

Tabor battled uphill the entire second half, closing to within one point on three occasions, but Newman fended off the pesky Bluejays each time and held on for the five point win.

Tabor was again led by Erica Hemmert who scored 17 points. Hemmert was joined in double figures by Rachelle Wertenberger with 11 and LaTasha Townsend who scored 10 points.

With the loss, Tabor falls to 1-1 on the season. Next action for the Bluejays will be at the Sterling tournament this Friday and Saturday, with games scheduled to start at 2:00 each day.
