Hillsboro rolls past Halstead, 30-0

Hillsboro played one sharp half of offense Thursday night, but that was enough to beat Halstead, 30-0, Thursday at Reimer Field.

Hillsboro led 23-0 at halftime on touchdown runs of 41 and 16 yards by Caleb Marsh and a 17-yard touchdown pass from Derek Hamm to Daniel Deckert. Hamm ran for one 2-point conversion and Josh Boese threw to Brodie Unrau for another; Marsh kicked an extra point.

The Trojan offense went numb in the second half and struggled to move the ball against the Dragons. The final HHS score came on a 9-yard fumble recovery by defensive end Deckert in the the final period.

The win gives Hillsboro a 6-3 season record and a runner-up spot in districts. That’s good enough for HHS to move on in bi-district play at Riley County on Tuesday night.
