Hajek, Kerschen exchange vows

Kelli Robin Hajek and Dennis William Kerschen were married May 17 at the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita with Father Ken VanHaverbeke and concelebrants Monsignor Charles Regan and Father John Dinan officiating.

Lector was Karla Shepard, sister of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Jerome and Donna Hajek of Marion. The groom is the son of Rich and Hannah Kerschen of Wichita.

Grandparents are Doris Ewert of Marion, Mildred Hajek of Lost Springs and Rosella Maupin of Wichita.

Matron of honor was Kimberly Helmer, sister of the bride. Bestman was Brian Kerschen, brother of the groom.

Bridesmaids were Lynette McLean, cousin of the bride, and Krystil Yust, friend of the bride. Bride’s personal attendant was Jill Kerschen, sister-in-law of the groom.

Flower girl was Drew Helmer, niece of the bride. Honorary flower girl was Kathleen Shepard, niece of the groom.

Groomsmen were Erick Harper and Robert Lightcap, friends of the groom.

Ring bearer was Jackson Shepard, nephew of the groom. Honorary ring bearer was Hunter Helmer, nephew of the bride.

Ushers were David Shepard, brother-in-law the groom, and Mark Franken, friend of the groom.

Offeratory gift bearers were Paul and Rae Lene Hajek, uncle and aunt of the bride.

Music was provided by the string quartet of Suzie Schiffel, Martha Schreiner, Camille Burrow and Cindy Cook. Accompanying pianist was Shirley Wiebe, and vocalist was Rob Knapp.

Program and guestbook attendants were Stephanie Hajek and Amanda Ewert, cousins of the bride.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory satin A-line dress with a sweeping floor-length train. The satin halter neckline had a fitted bodice with a satin flower waist accent.

The bride carried a bouquet of white roses wrapped with a white satin ribbon. She also carried a white handkerchief belonging to Lucy Kline, her great-grandmother.

The reception was held at the Wichita Country Club. Reception hosts were Dennis and Janis Maggard of Marion, friends of the bride, and James and Sally Kerschen of Dodge City, uncle and aunt of the groom.

The rehearsal dinner was held on May 16 at Cibola’s Restaurant in Wichita and hosted by the groom’s parents.

Following a honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii, the couple resides in Wichita.

Gerstner, Carroll celebrate marriage

Nicole Lynn Gerstner and Matthew Shane Carroll were married Aug. 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hays with pastor George Campbell officiating the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Allen and Wava Gerstner of Collyer. The groom is the son of Wally and Jan Carroll of Hoisington.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father.

Honor attendant was Brooke Scott, friend of the bride. Best man was Mike Carroll, brother of the groom.

The bride’s attendants were Haley Richards and Emily Thomasson, friends of the bride.

Groomsmen were Justin Bearley and Nathan Sullivan, friends of the groom.

Ushers were Wade Gerstner, brother of the bride, and Dave King and Terry Redetzke, friends of the groom.

Candlelighters were Cody and Caia Jacobsen, cousins of the bride.

The bride is a graduate of Trego Community High School in WaKeeney and Fort Hays State University. She is a part-time science teacher at Canton-Galva High School and is pursuing a master’s degree in school counseling at Emporia State University.

The groom is a graduate of Hoisington High School and Fort Hays State University. He is a technology teacher at Hillsboro High School.

Following a honeymoon to the coast of North Carolina, the couple resides in Hillsboro.
