Second half of street job takes shape

Cline Gronau, project foreman for APAC Kansas, checks the measurement and angle of the new curb and guttering that was poured Friday morning on the west edge of Main Street and the north edge of Grand Avenue in downtown HIllsboro. With the new water line in place in those areas, the look of a new street began to take shape as a week of work came to end. With recent dry weather, City Administrator Steve Garrett said the project is back on schedule to be completed by Sept. 4. “We’d still like to see some things coordinated a little bit better, and I think they’d say that too, with the bricks and the electrical work and those sorts of things,” Garrett said. “Right now, we’re waiting on the electric contractor to get the conduit in so they can run concrete.”
