Grades 7-12 to hold band camp Aug. 4-6

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
All band students in grades seven through 12 at Hillsboro junior and senior high schools will meet at band camp from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 4 to Aug. 6. On Wednesday, band members will meet a 5:30 p.m.

The camp will focus on marching fundamentals, music and preparation for the Marion County Fair parade.

Flag members are asked to bring their instruments to camp for practice in addition to working on their routines.

Under the direction of band director Gregg Walker, members should make sure their instruments are in working order and wear shoes appropriate for marching.

A newly designed band shirt will be available to purchase to wear in the county parade and future band events.

New Trojan band members in high school will need to be measured for tuxes provided by the school. During band camp, each student will be required to buy a $14 tux shirt and a pair of $29 black marching shoes.

Any financial concerns should be discussed with Walker. “Please do not let this prevent you from being in band,” Walker said.

Those unable to attend must contact Walker at gbw81680@juno.
com or 947-3991.

“It is very critical that you attend the entire camp,” Walker said. “I look forward to seeing you on Monday.”
