Helene R. Wiens, 83

Helene R. Wiens, 83, homemaker, died June 28 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

The funeral was July 1 at First Mennonite Church in Newton with pastors Clarence Remple and Verney Unruh officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.

She was born Oct. 30, 1919, to John and Anna (Bartel) Dyck in Newton. On Dec. 6, 1944, she was married to Jacob “Jake” W. Wiens, who predeceased her in 1999.

She is survived by five sons, Arlen, Robert and Paul Wiens, all of Newton, Don Wiens of Hutchinson, and Ken Wiens of Halstead; a daughter, Donata Gillen of Hesston; a brother, Ralph Dyck of West Plains, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with First Mennonite Church.

Edmund L. Patry, 94

Edmund “Ed” L. Patry, 94, retired farmer, died June 21 at Prairie Homestead in Wichita.

The funeral was June 27 at St. Mark’s Church, Holy Family Parish in Marion with Father Paul Oborny officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 12, 1908, to John and Mary (Eberle) Patry in Colwich. On Feb. 14, 1939, he was married to Mary Wegerer, who predeceased him in 1993.

He is survived by two sons, James Patry of Wilson and Lawrence Patry of Hutchinson; six daughters, Betty Plante and Barbara Meirowsky, both of Wichita, Margaret Barkman of Winton, Calif., Cecelia Sanchez of Salina, Marian Lindshield of Lindsborg and Annette Cutcher of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Pauline Wegerer of Marion; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial was established with Prairie Homestead.

Milford O. Blair, 91

Milford O. Blair, 91, farmer, died June 25 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center Long Term Care Unit.

The funeral was June 30 at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro with pastor Ken Peterson officiating. Burial was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

He was born July 11, 1911, to Oliver and Emma (Brouillette) Blair in Canton. On Aug. 20, 1937, he was married to Kathryn Ratz-laff, who survives.

He is also survived by two nieces, Donna Blair and Nancy Schlicht, both of Tempe, Ariz., and caregiver Phyliss E. Meisinger of Hillsboro.

A memorial has been established with First Mennonite Church.

Susan Jean Dalke, 53

Susan Jean Dalke, 53, insurance agent, died June 24 at Hillsboro Community Medical Center.

The funeral was June 28 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church with pastor Gaylord Goertzen officiating. Burial was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

She was born June 7, 1950, to Arnold N. and Annabelle (Carter) Bliss in Herington. On March 7, 1970, she was married to James B. Dalke, who survives.

She is also survived by her mother of Hillsboro; a son, Benjamin J. Dalke of Hillsboro; and a daughter, Adrianna Mader and husband Craig of Olathe.

A memorial was established with Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

Ernie L. Stika, 48

Ernie L. Stika, 48, former employee with the Donahue Corp. in Durham, died June 26 in Wichita.

The funeral was June 30 at St. John Nepomucene Church, Holy Family Parish in Pilsen with Father Paul Oborny officiating. Burial was at Pilsen Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 27, 1954, to Louis and Tillie (Kroupa) Stika Sr. in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Betty Augustine of Hesston and Arlene Stika of Hillsboro.

A memorial has been established with the Pilsen Community Center in care of Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion.

Kenneth Steiner, 49

Kenneth Hubert Steiner, 49, former farmer, bus driver and machinist at Machine Specialty in Hillsboro, died June 26 in Wichita.

The funeral was June 30 at St. John Nepomucene Church, Holy Family Parish in Pilsen with Father Paul Oborny officiating. Burial was at Pilsen Cemetery.

He was born April 4, 1954, to Hubert and Mable (Rayon) Steiner in Marion.

He is survived by his mother of Hillsboro; fiancée Joyce Whiteman of Newton; two sons, Kelly Steiner of Lincolnville and Kevin Steiner of McPherson; one brother, Myron Steiner of McPherson; three sisters, Gwen Johnson of Wichita, Glenda Stoppel of Hillsboro and Ginger Steiner of Emporia.

Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer’s Association of Kansas in care of Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion.

Louis Satterlee, 90

Louis Satterlee, 90, retired National Cash Register Corp. technician, died June 28 at Lakewood Heights in Wichita.

The graveside service was July 1 at Canton Cemetery with pastor Charles Claycomb officiating.

He was born July 26, 1912, to Edward and Emma May (Serviss) Satterlee in Canton. He was married to Evelyn Gray, who predeceased him in 1992. He was later married to Melba Grier, who survives.

He is also survived by a son, Robert Saterlee of Manhattan; a daughter, Revelyn Alpaugh of Lenexa; two stepsons, Bradley Grier of South Sioux City, Neb., and Douglass Grier of Wichita; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Woodland United Methodist Church in Wichita.
