LeRoy Hoffman, 81

LeRoy Hoffman, 81, retired appliance repairman and volunteer fireman, died April 27 at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

The funeral was May 1 at Marion Christian Church with pastor Rick Branson officiating. Burial was at Marion Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 22, 1921, to Henry and Amelia (Haas) Hoffman near Tampa. On Jan. 20, 1945, he was married to Lila Link, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Janice Peter and Anita Hooper, both of Marion; one sister, LuElla Bartel of Marion; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Marion Christian Church and the American Cancer Society.

Maurice W. Ecker, 77

Maurice W. Ecker, 77, recreation-hall bartender, died May 2 at the Robert J. Dole Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wichita.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, at Greenwich United Methodist Church in Wichita with chaplain Mark McDonald officiating.

He was born June 9, 1925, to Clinton James and Hazel M. (Smith) Ecker in Marion.

He is survived by three brothers, Robert Ecker of New Orleans, Dale Ecker of Redwood City, Calif., and Don Ecker of Wichita; a sister, Eileen Voth of Ellinwood; and 10 nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established with the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield.
