HMS track teams win 3 of 4 divisions at Lindsborg

Hillsboro Middle School track teams won three of four team titles at the Lindsborg Quadrangular Thursday.

The eighth-grade girls won their second straight meet by a 23-point margin over Lyons.

The Trojans won eight events, including six individual events: Hannah Marsh the pole vault (8 feet) and long jump (17 feet 2 inches), JuliAnne Chisholm the high jump (5-0) and 75-meter hurdles (11:35); Jessica Heidel, 100 meters (13.41); and Elissa Richert, 800 meters (3:03.14).

Also winning was the medley relay team of Megan Peachey Tina Frick, Kelsie Penner and Chisholm (2:01.83) and the 4×100 team of Peachey, Frick, Penner and Marsh (54.15).

The eighth-grade boys won their first meet with a 6.5-point win over runner-up Lindsborg.

HMS won six events, including five by individuals: Lucas Hamm, shot put (44-81/2) and discus (128-6); Michael Suderman, long jump (17-33/4); Tyler Suderman, pole vault (8-0); and Tyler Kaufman, triple jump (34-51/2).

Also winning first was the 4×100 team of Jesse Boucher, Hamm, Adam Dirks and Michael Suderman ( 50.89).

The HMS seventh-grade girls captured first place by a margin of 28 points over Lindsborg.

The Trojans won seven events, including four by individuals: Anna Woelk, high jump (4-4); Julia Loewen, 75 meters (15.74); Amy Neufeld, triple jump (26-31/2; and Audrey Weinbrenner, long jump (14-5).

Also winning was the Trojan 4×200 team of Jayme Claassen, Steph Abbot, Lauren Just and Tessa Simpson (2:08.94); the 4×100 team of Just, Rachelle Goldsby, Amanda Faber and Weinbrenner (57.15); and the medley team of Just, Weinbrenner, Bobbi Jo Carlson and Faber (2:09.76).

The seventh-grade boys placed fourth with first-place performances in four events.

Winning for HMS was Frankie Martin in the pole vault (6-6), Mark Prieb in the triple jump (28-63/4); and Daniel Roble in the discus (76-7).

The medley relay team of Cody McMillen, Grant Schneider, Gavin Serene and Jacob Yoder also placed first.

HMS will host a track meet at Tabor at 3:30 p.m., Thursday.
