Two county residents arrested for Roxbury heist

ORIGINALLY WRITTEN
Two Marion County men have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 3 robbery at the Roxbury Bank in McPherson County.

The second of the two suspects, Brandon Klenda, 17, of Lincolnville, was arrested about 4:30 p.m., Thursday, at the home of an acquaintance in Lost Springs by law-enforcement personnel from McPherson and Marion counties.

His alleged accomplice, Jackie B. Davis, 20, of Ramona, was arrested two days earlier.

The two men are believed to be the two armed and masked subjects who entered the small bank in eastern McPherson County at 10:35 a.m., Jan. 3.

The amount of money taken in the robbery has not been released, but McPherson County Sheriff Larry Powell said some of the money was recovered during Klenda’s arrest, according to a report in the McPherson Sentinel.

After his arrest, Klenda was transported to a juvenile detention center in Hutchinson on the charge of aggravated armed robbery. Officials are planning to prosecute him as an adult.

Davis appeared in McPherson County District Court Thursday on the same charge. His bond was set at $100,000.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation joined McPherson and Marion county sheriff’s departments in the investigation.
